pretty near bi-slantastic

MSIE5x users will see this as I intended. Opera5x and Netscape6x do not share my ideas of presentation!

I was wondering whether the Slantastic scheme could give slants on both sides at the same time. This shows that it can be done. But the HTML & CSS is not for the faint at heart!

Ahah, and looks not toooo bad. MSIE flows the text between the boundaries just dandy.

Some hints towards an explanation appear below

Initially Netscape didin't like me doing this ! Opera neither! Which put quite a damper on my enthusiasm.

Eric Meyer suggested interleaving the left and right slant elements. Now it works great!

Basic box showing colors chosen for explanation. Stacked to right and left, two adjacent border segments have zero thickness, while the other two (non-zero, adjacent) determine the slope

Now imagine changing the colors as follows - yellow and red go to white, and lime, green and blue go to soft blue. This would result a demo similar to the above, though with all slopes different.

("All slopes different" turns out to be most ugly and I can't imagine ever wanting to do it. But this shows how it can be done)

In the version for use (the slope divs) a small margin (recognizable as 0.5em) has been added on left or right because there were signs of text break up close to the slant edges. The text is being obscured by the border of the text boxes used to build the slant (see below). By the BORDERS?

I thought the container below was kind of cute?
